Handel
II
has enjoyed tremendous success over the past few years with
Michael Whitaker - together they have accumulated over £300,000
in prize money with Grand Prix wins around the world, including
taking 3rd place at the 2001 World Cup Final in Gothenburg.
He was the leading
BSJA horse for two years in succession and in 2002 achieved
unthinkable results at Stuttgart by winning both the Grand
Prix and the Masters and in doing so picked up two top of
the range Mercedes cars!
Handel
II is by Wolfgang who has sired many approved sons
and International Grand Prix and World Cup showjumpers,
including Extreme, Frederic, Freedom, Whinny Jackson and
World Champions at Lanaken, Illussion and Kigali. He is
by the legendary Farn who has produced many top competition
horses including the great sire Nimmerdor who was selected
for the Olympics. Handel’s dam Clementine is by Ulft
who is known around the world as a top sire of both dressage
and jumping horses.
Handel
II was used lightly at stud early on in his career
and now has offspring successfully competing in all 3 disciplines.
His youngstock inherit both his extravagant movement and
his formidable technique over a fence and it is in the show
jumping ring where they are proving to be most successful.
Two of his most notable offspring to date are Alcina who
won the 2002 Newcomers Championship with Michael Whitaker
and Redhill Manta who won the Ladies Championship at the
2004 Scope Show with Vicky Young.
